Saint Francis Xavier - INDIA

August 2010 - one months of missionary animation in South Asia region.

This morning i did celebrate the Eucharist at the tomb of St. Francis Xavier in old GOA, Basilica of Bom Gesu.

With a deep gratitude for the zealous saint and his missionary drive
from Europe up to Japan,
i have asked a special grace of missionary fire for all 16.000 Salesians worldwide, than especially for the 2500 Indian salesians in this wonderful country and in the most special way for all the salesian missioanries from India who are living and working in all 5 continents
as missionary ad gentes.

Among them also 3 provincials - Fr. Joseph in AFE, East African Province,
Fr. Joaquim D'Souza at the UPS, Rome and Fr. Simon Manjooran in Hungary,
the first non European provincial in the old continent.

At every step i discover a huge heritage of the pioneer missionaries sent to India, the daily faith and courage of the confreres who really live up to the standard of missionaries inter gentes at home.

During the journey, in the formation houses, i'm meeting many missionary groups, throught the dialougue with the confreres getting
know many excellent figures of local missionaries like Blessed Joseph Daas of Goa, missionary to Sri Lanka, or Prem Bhai, the apostle of Arunachel Pradesh, our ex novice of Bombay province.

Thanks be to God!

Let the light of Jesus shine in India!
